  • Grind finer (1 sub-step on Ode 2, e.g. 7.0 → 6.2)
  • Increase brew temp by 2-3°F
  • Increase bloom duration

Bitter / Harsh / Astringent

Over-extracted

  • Grind coarser (1 sub-step on Ode 2, e.g. 6.2 → 7.0)
  • Decrease brew temp by 2-3°F
  • Reduce number of pulses

Balanced but Weak

Needs more concentration

  • Use a tighter ratio (e.g. 1:15 instead of 1:16)
  • Increase coffee dose
  • Keep grind size the same

Balanced but Too Strong

Needs more dilution

  • Use a wider ratio (e.g. 1:17 instead of 1:16)
